Book Design - Home
This project begins with a cultural idea that has accompanied me since childhood: the belief that the fate of the country and the life of the family are deeply connected. Growing up in China, I was constantly surrounded by narratives that linked personal belonging to collective identity—from New Year greetings about national prosperity and family peace to stories of historical figures whose loyalty and sacrifice were devoted to the country. For me, the idea of “home” has never referred only to the family unit, but has always extended toward a broader emotional bond with nation, culture, and homeland.
Based on this understanding, the book is structured around three interconnected dimensions of “home”: country, nation, and family. Through this three-part framework, the project traces how personal identity and emotional belonging are formed step by step, moving from the intimate space of family to the larger idea of cultural and national attachment. By using the book form as both narrative and visual container, the project presents “home” not only as a place of origin, but as a layered system of memory, dependence, and spiritual belonging.
